Pictured here at the Sealaska Inn in Hyder, Alaska is Ardys Kellerman, our favorite long distance ridin' great-grandmotherer. She started her 48 Plus ride in White River Junction, Vermont and finished 9-1/2 days and 8543 miles later in Hyder, Alaska, having passed through all of the lower 48 states, PLUS Alaska! Ardys rides a BMW R1150RT.

May 19: Louisiana to Indiana to Ohio to Indiana to Michigan (2812 miles so far)

May 21: Michigan to South Dakota (lost her cell phone)

May 22: South Dakota to Arizona (with her new phone) 5400 miles so far

May 23: Arizona to Idaho to Oregon, (6,836 miles)

May 24: Oregon to Idaho to Montana to Washington

May 25: North to Alaska

May 27: Sealaska Inn, Hyder, Alaska (8543 miles-all 49 states-in 9.5 days - Finito!)

The 48 Plus

In 1998, Iron Butt rider and author, Ron Ayres set a new 48 state record of 6 days, 0 hours and 5 minutes. Ron went on to add a new twist to the 48 state record ride by continuing on to Hyder, Alaska to establish a new 49 state record of 7 days, 0 hours and 20 minutes and a new ride, one that Ron has named the 48 Plus!
