To the Arctic Circle on a BMW R1100BG
If you get the urge to ride your motorcycle to Alaska and the Arctic Circle, the month of June is a good time of year to do it. There are lots of daylight hours. In fact, the sun comes up and doesn't go down. Starting on June 1, David Haun rode his BMW R1100GS from Austin to Fairbanks, Alaska in 5 days, 19 hours. Total time to the Arctic Circle was 6 days 20 hours. And David didn't even need his headlight. David returned on June 15 and his round trip total was 8950 miles.
