Triumph's new Rocket III arrives at Lone Star
Rear drive of the Rocket III - no chains, no belts
With 147 ft. lbs. of torque needing to be transferred to the rear wheel, Triumph's Rocket scientists decided that a chain drive or a belt drive just wouldn't do the job. They designed a beefy five-speed gearbox and a heavy duty shaft drive for the Rocket III. Then they added a pair of chromed, coil spring-assisted rear shock absorbers with fully adjustable preload.
